Taking my mom medical marijuana
For more than four years, I watched my mother struggle with the opiate drugs the doctor gave her for pain, she was upping the dose every couple months, and I knew she had become addicted.
I needed to find a way for her to deal with the pain and get off the opioids.
I knew a neighbor of mine was using medical marijuana, and I asked her how tough it was to get mom medical marijuana. She gave me the web address for the state medical marijuana program and told me it was easy to follow, and within three weeks, we had a medical marijuana ID card for mom, and I was going to take his to the marijuana dispensary. Mom was not sure we were doing the right thing, although I was sure medical cannabis was better than opioids. She was 90 years old, plus I did not want to see her wasting her last couple of years dependent on opioids. When we went to the cannabis dispensary, mama told me she was as worried as a young girl going out on her first date. She was still going through withdrawal from the opioids, although I assured his that the medical cannabis would help her. We talked to the pharmacist, and I told them what was going on, plus the pharmacist was quick to tell our mother what she should be using. She had something to help her with withdrawal symptoms, plus another product to help her with the pain he was going through. Within a month, our mama was almost back to where she had been before all the drugs the doctor gave her. I used to suppose medical marijuana was better than opioids, but now I’m sure of it.
