My son tries cannabis for the first time
My child was going to smoke weed with me or without me, by deciding to support their choice I got to be there with Max when he got high for the first time, and this seemed like the best possible choice I could make, given the circumstances, I remember when I was his age, and I wanted to get drunk so I did. It was a bad experience, in a strange place with a group of people I barely knew. I did not want that for Max. If he wanted to experiment with using cannabis he would find a way to do it, this way he did it with me, where it was safe! One Tuesday after Max came home from school he found me in the family room, enjoying a film and rolling some cannabis into a joint. I told Max if he wanted to see what it was like to smoke cannabis he would do it with his dad, in his home, for the first time. He thought I was kidding, although I told him that I knew he was curious about cannabis, and I didn’t want him sneaking around. Just because there are still laws against cannabis doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it – the laws are wrong, and while I would prefer that he wait until school to experiment with cannabis, I would like it even more if he never took unneeded risks. Since I purchased the cannabis, and was supervising its use, there was no risk involved for Max at all, it was a safe and fun environment.
