Medical marijuana can help individuals with Autism

While research is still being conducted on the effects of medical marijuana on individuals with Autism, it seems as though there are a variety of positive effects. Even though there is a long way to go with this research, there are several strong studies that outline the benefits of cannabis for individuals on the Autism Spectrum. Cannabis cannot cure Autism, but it can alleviate the symptoms associated with it. For example, it is common for individuals with Autism to experience seizures. Cannabis can help prevent those seizures. If you know any individuals with Autism, you might be aware that they tend to have some moments of aggression. Individuals with Autism often struggle with social interactions and exhibit impulsive behaviors, and sometimes self-harming behaviors. Cannabis can help with those moments of aggression. The effects of cannabis appear to be therapeutic for individuals with Autism. Based on current research, it is unclear whether or not it is a good idea to use medical marijuana as a medication for children with Autism. However, evidence suggests that it is excellent for adults with Autism. As medical professionals gain a stronger understanding of what Autism Spectrum Disorder is and how it presents in different people, there is an increase in the number of ASD diagnoses. Should research continue to suggest positive correlations between the use of medical marijuana and individuals with ASD, then medical marijuana would likely become a more commonly accepted treatment for Autism.
