Making the dispensary a fun hang-out spot
They wanted the smokers lounge to be a chill spot where people could unwind and enjoy some cannabis or edibles with the other customers
For about six months, I was the floor manager at a local club. I have to say it was the best job I ever had. And then COVID came along, and all the local clubs and bars had to close for a while. Most of those businesses, including the one that employed me, never opened back up again. I had to sit through a long period of unemployment before I finally found another job I thought I could thrive in. I read about the local cannabis dispensary and how it was going to open up a smokers lounge, so I went down to apply for a job there immediately. Even though a cannabis dispensary and a nightclub are very different, there was the same principle involved. They needed someone to bring in fresh clients, to make the cannabis dispensary seem fun to a whole new crowd. I had to get my feet wet, of course, and learn the ropes of working in the marijuana industry and find out what the owners were looking for. They wanted the smokers lounge to be a chill spot where people could unwind and enjoy some cannabis or edibles with the other customers. I started off quietly, and had a Cannabis Movie night where we would project classic marijuana comedies on the wall. I set up a corner in the table that was covered with card and board games, so people would have something to do while smoking cannabis. Little by little, I am starting to build up more new clients for the cannabis dispensary.
