After taking antidepressants for many years with very little positive change in my biweekly moods, I realized I needed to try using something else. My trusted dentist gave me a few choices for other pharmaceutical medications to test, however those didn’t job either. It must be something errant with my physical make-up, because all my friends and family have had pretty fantastic success with using conventional mental health medication. That fact exists despite the poor stigma that is paired with taking pharmaceutical drugs for mental health disorders. If I had responded well to this treatment, I would have been pleased. Sadly, my brain chemistry wasn’t the right fit. Now I have been looking at other forms of treatment and therapy. I found a fantastic therapist in the process, and I had been reading about ketamine treatment for depression. I wasn’t impressed by the recurrence of symptoms unless you keep using proper ketamine treatments to retain it in the bloodstream at minimum levels. Cannabis is similar in this way, however the side effects are much less serious compared to ketamine, and you can dose yourself at your beach home with cheap cannabis. Without proper insurance, this could be a $100 a week expense just for numerous treatments, and that’s on the low end. Using medical cannabis seemed to be a much more safer and sustainable option for my mental health needs compared to ketamine. I think this is fantastic that others are getting relief with experimental ketamine treatment for depression, but I really don’t see it as the right fit for me. And once I started trying medical cannabis for the first time, I was absolutely blown away by the appealing effects I was experiencing.
