Mangos have a lot of myrcene. Cannabis strains that offer 0.5% of this terpene are typically indicas and offer sedative properties. It is believed the myrcene works to reduce inflammation and chronic pain. Popular strains that are plentiful in myrcene include, White Widow and Special Kush. The second most abundant terpene is limonene. It has a citrusy aroma and can be found in lemons, cosmetics and cleaning products. When found in cannabis, this terpene can reduce stress and improve mood. It’s often recommended for its antifungal and antibacterial properties. Strains that are high in limonene include LemonHaze, Durban Poison and O.G. Kush. The marijuana smell that most people are familiar with is due to linalool. This terpene is also present in lavender, coriander, cinnamon and lavender. It has strong relaxing and sedative properties. Linalool has proven effective in treating insomnia, seizures, arthritis, depression and cancer. Common strains with lots of linalool are Special Kush, Amnesia Haze and OG Shark.
