My state is not going to get recreational cannabis for a long time

There used to be a lot of diversity of opinion in this state back when I was a kid.

We had folks moving in from all over the country, no matter what the background was or economic status.

It was nice to feel like you could belong out here if you lived in a large enough city because you’d eventually find like minded folks, fun art and music scenes, and exciting places to hang out on the weekends to chat with people from all walks of life. But in the past six years or so, this state has been trending towards one specific political direction and it’s making it hard on some of us. I don’t think a state’s populace is being fulfilled when a tiny majority of the people here are making decisions for everyone. It leads to resentment and frustration among those who feel they have no representation of advocates in the state government. For instance, we passed medical cannabis with over 70% of the vote, showing a clear and decisive majority across the whole voting electorate. Yet our state government has done nothing but make it harder for our medical marijuana program to succeed with their ongoing list of rules and regulations that grow by the month. I doubt we’ll see recreational cannabis in this state for at least another eight or nine years. I’d still be surprised to see recreational cannabis in this state even if the federal government decriminalized marijuana tomorrow. Our state government has made it clear that they don’t believe in following the rule of law when it comes to marijuana, even if they’re the ones that craft or sign the laws in the first place.
