Using weed to sleep?

For years and years, I have had the worst kind of sleep cycle.

My body doesn’t enter a REM period like most.

Instead, I fall in and out of periods all night long and never really achieve a good full night of rest. For the past few years, I have averaged about 3 to 5 hours of sleep each night. If I go to bed at 7pm or 11, I still only sleep for a few hours. My body and mind were not holding up to the abuse, so I contacted a medical professional that specializes in sleeping issues. The first thing she did was schedule a sleep research study. I went to an office late at night and they monitored myself and others sleeping. The next day, I met with the medical professional to discuss what they found. I was surprised when the medical professional suggested using medical cannabis to treat my sleeping disorder. I never thought about using cannabis, but the medical professional gave me ample information on cannabis as a treatment option. I took home a few pamphlets on medical cannabis, terpenes, CBD, and holistic health options. I have another date tied up for next month and I assume I’m going to let the medical professional prescribe cannabis as a treatment. I haven’t smoked dope since I was 19 years old. My friends and I used to smoke a joint in college or before track meets. I do not ever remember feeling absolutely tired or rested.
