My parents don’t understand my work at the cannabis dispensary

My parents sincerely do not approve of my job in any way, and it’s been causing a bunch of friction in our relationship. They especially don’t appreciate that I stopped going to community college to work full time. College really was always something I did for them, not for myself… When I was even-handed with myself, I had to disclose that I didn’t even like going to school, and I was ready to get going with absolutely working and making money. So just for that reason they were completely upset with me. Then when they came to learn what job I was training for they totally lost their heads. They were never keen on any kind of drugs, so me absolutely working in a cannabis dispensary was truly frustrating to them. Of course I try to tell them that cannabis isn’t a “drug” the way they guess it is. They have heard decades worth of anti-cannabis propaganda so they are under the impression that pot is the same as cocaine or heroin. That is easily false, just misinformation spread by the government and tobacco lobby, who view marijuana as their rival. Cannabis is a plant, it grows naturally, and a lot of people in state and local government are beginning to see that. I myself use CBD oil but don’t tend to indulge in cannabis much, but my folks don’t even see the difference between the two! They basically act like I have become a major drug dealer, but I’m just a store manager for a cannabis dispensary, who gets wonderful pay with full medical and dental benefits, something that not many drug dealers have!
