My family history with the marijuana business

Grandma brought in some of her hippie botanist friends to help tend the cannabis crops, and grandpa was in charge of protecting everything.

My grandpa was a military man for years. He ended up resigning his post due to moral problems with the vietnam conflict, and then became an ardent opponent of the war. He was still pro-soldier, he just thought lives were being wasted needlessly in Vietnam. At one of the protests he attended, he met the woman who would be my grandma, a spritely hippie girl who caught his attention. They fell in love and ran off together, too happy to keep protesting. They ended up in the far north, where they started a marijuana farm to pay the bills and start a family. Fun fact, a lot of soldiers in Vietnam were exposed to marijuana, and got into the farming business once they returned home after the war. Combat vets growing cannabis was very common in the United States and up into Canada as well, and grandpa was one of them! They planted fields of marijuana plants, both to use for hemp production and cannabis sales, and started a major grow operation. Grandma brought in some of her hippie botanist friends to help tend the cannabis crops, and grandpa was in charge of protecting everything. When you are in the marijuana business, your rivals can often be underhanded, and that isn’t to mention the presence of local law enforcement. They made a formidable team, and were able to peaceably grow and sell marijuana for many years with no incidents. When my mom was old enough to start asking questions, they sold the entire marijuana operation to one of their rivals, and settled down to raise their family.
